Paula L. Enríquez was born in Mexico City and studied Biology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She obtained her Magister Scientae degree from the International Institute of Wildlife Conservation and Management of the National University of Costa Rica. She completed her PhD at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, in the Department of Animal Sciences. She has focused her interest on population and community studies for the conservation of birds, mainly nocturnal birds of prey. She has participated in various research projects with birds in Veracruz, Chiapas and Quintana Roo, in Mexico, also in Costa Rica and Colombia. Since 1996 she has worked as a Researcher in the Biodiversity Conservation Department at El Colegio de la Frontera Sur, in Chiapas, Mexico. In 2015 she published the book Neotropical Owls: Diversity and Conservation and republished by Spinger in 2017. In 2019 she won the World Owl Hall of Fame award at the International Festival of Owls in the United States. From 2016 to 2020 she was Editor in Chief of Huitzil, Mexican Journal of Ornithology. She is currently a Researcher and member of the State System of Researchers in Chiapas and the National System in Mexico. 

Paula L. Enríquez nació en la Ciudad de México y estudio Biología en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Obtuvo su grado de Magister Scientae en el Instituto Internacional en Conservación y Manejo de Vida Silvestre de la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. Su doctorado lo realizó en la Universidad de Columbia Británica en Vancouver, en el Departamento de Ciencias Animales. Ha centrado su interés en estudios poblacionales y de comunidades para la conservación de las aves, principalmente las aves rapaces nocturnas. Ha participado en diversos proyectos de investigación con aves en Veracruz, Chiapas y Quintana Roo, en México, también en Costa Rica y Colombia. Desde 1996 labora como Investigadora en el Departamento Conservación de la Biodiversidad en El Colegio de la Frontera Sur, en Chiapas, México. En 2015 publicó el libro Los búhos Neotropicales: Diversidad y Conservación y reeditado por Spinger en 2017. En 2019 ganó el premio World Owl Hall of Fame, en el International Festival of Owls en Estados Unidos. De 2016 a 2020 fue Editora en jefe de Huitzil, Revista Mexicana de Ornitología. Actualmente es Investigadora y miembro del Sistema Estatal de Investigadores en Chiapas y del Sistema Nacional en México.

Tomás Ibarra grew up in the mountains of Santiago de Chile and studied Agronomy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC). He then obtained his Master of Science degree in Conservation and Wildlife Management at the same university and then a second Master of Science degree in Environmental Anthropology at the School of Anthropology and Conservation at the University of Kent, United Kingdom. His PhD was completed at the University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Forestry. He lives in southern Chile where his collaborative work with more than 20 undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, other co-researchers and local collaborators moves between research, education and socio-ecological action. To this end, its approach promotes transdiscipline and the use of tools from Natural Sciences and Social Sciences, with a fundamental contribution from the Humanities and Local Knowledge, for the study and construction of resilience of complex territories. In particular, it works in forests, mountains and agroforestry systems. In southern Chile, he leads a study on birds of prey, forest biodiversity and socio-ecological systems that has been working for 15 uninterrupted years. From this work, more than 100 scientific articles, 30 book chapters and 6 books have been generated, along with a large amount of educational material that includes documentaries, field guides, booklets, posters, among others. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Villarrica Campus and at the Faculty of Agronomy and Natural Systems of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. In addition, he is Principal Investigator at the Cape Horn International Center for Global Change Studies and Biocultural Conservation (CHIC), the UC Center for Local Development (CEDEL) and is an Associate Researcher at the Center for Applied Ecology and Sustainability (CAPES) and the Center for Intercultural and Indigenous Studies (CIIR).

Tomás Ibarra creció en las montañas de Santiago de Chile y estudió Agronomía en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). Luego, obtuvo su grado de Magister en Ciencias en Conservación y Manejo de Vida Silvestre en la misma universidad y luego un segundo Magister en Ciencias en Antropología Ambiental en la Escuela de Antropología y Conservación en la Universidad de Kent, Reino Unido. Su doctorado lo realizó en la Universidad de British Columbia en la Facultad de Ciencias Forestales. Vive en el sur de Chile en donde su trabajo colaborativo con más de 20 estudiantes de pre y postgrado, investigadores postdoctorales, otros coinvestigadores y colaboradores locales se mueve entre la investigación, la educación y la acción socioecológica. Para esto, su aproximación promueve la transdisciplina y el uso de herramientas de las Ciencias Naturales y Ciencias Sociales, con un aporte fundamental de las Humanidades y los Saberes Locales, para el estudio y la construcción de
resiliencia de territorios complejos. En particular, trabaja en bosques, montañas y sistemas agroforestales. En el sur de Chile, lidera un estudio sobre aves rapaces, biodiversidad de bosques y sistemas socioecológicos que lleva 15 años ininterrumpidos de trabajo. A partir de este trabajo se han generado más de 100 artículos científicos, 30 capítulos de libro y 6 libros, junto con gran cantidad de material educativo que incluye documentales, guías de campo, cartillas, afiches, entre otros. Actualmente es Profesor Asociado en el Campus Villarrica y en la Facultad de Agronomía y Sistemas Naturales de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Además, es Investigador Principal en el Centro Internacional Cabo de Hornos para Estudios del Cambio Global y Conservación Biocultural (CHIC), el Centro UC de Desarrollo Local (CEDEL) y es Investigador Asociado en el Centro de Ecología Aplicada y Sustentabilidad (CAPES) y el Centro de Estudios Interculturales e Indígenas (CIIR).

Miguel is a veterinarian, microbiologist and ornithologist specialized in birds of prey. Graduated from the University of Buenos Aires as a veterinarian, he dedicated himself to the study, research and conservation of birds of prey since 1985, shortly after joining Aves Argentinas. He was an active member of the Raptor Group of the Argentine Wildlife Foundation, from which, between 1987 and 1988, he carried out, together with Eduardo De Lucca, an eagle project, a pioneer in our country in the study of birds of prey. His postgraduate studies include training in threatened species management and conservation biology provided by the Durrell Preservation Trust. In 2004 he completed a master's degree in infectious diseases and a clinical residency in raptor medicine, anesthesia, surgery and rehabilitation at The Raptor Center, University of Minnesota. He completed his PhD in molecular microbiology in 2007 at Texas A&M University. Miguel has developed numerous research projects, both in the United States and Argentina, on biomedicine, natural history, ecology and bird conservation, which have given rise to some 80 scientific publications. Miguel has been a member of the board of directors of numerous veterinary and ornithological organizations, such as the Association of Avian Veterinarians and the Raptor Research Foundation. In the latter, between 2015 and 2017, he was its president. Since 1985 he has given talks, courses, workshops and seminars on topics of biomedicine, ecology, rehabilitation and conservation of birds, not only in the United States and Argentina but also in Spain, Scotland, Canada, Belgium, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica , Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Brazil. He has contributed to the training of hundreds of veterinary medicine students and to the research direction of numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students. He currently coordinates the Birds of Prey of Santa Cruz project, dedicated to expanding existing knowledge about birds of prey in this Argentine province. 

Miguel es médico veterinario, microbiólogo y ornitólogo especializado en aves rapaces. Egresado de la Universidad de Buenos Aires como médico veterinario, se dedicó al estudio, investigación y conservación de las aves de presa desde 1985, poco después de asociarse a Aves Argentinas. Fue miembro activo del Grupo Rapaces de la Fundacion Vida Silvestre Argentina, desde el cual, entre 1987 y 1988, llevo adelante, junto a Eduardo De Lucca, el proyecto águila escudada, pionero en nuestro país sobre el estudio de aves rapaces. Sus estudios de postgrado incluyen entrenamiento en manejo de especies amenazadas y en biología de la conservación dictados por la Durrell Preservation Trust. En el año 2004 completó una maestría en enfermedades infecciosas y una residencia clínica en medicina, anestesia, cirugía y rehabilitación de aves rapaces en The Raptor Center, University of Minnesota. Completó su doctorado (PhD) en microbiología molecular en el año 2007, en Texas A&M University. Miguel ha desarrollado numerosos proyectos de investigación, tanto en Estados Unidos como en Argentina, sobre biomedicina, historia natural, ecología y conservación de aves, los que han dado origen a unas 80 publicaciones científicas. Miguel ha sido miembro de la comisión directiva de numerosas organizaciones veterinarias y de ornitología, tales como la Association of Avian Veterinarians y la Raptor Research Foundation. En esta última, entre los años 2015 y 2017, fue su presidente. Desde 1985 ha dictado charlas, cursos, talleres y seminarios sobre temas de biomedicina, ecología, rehabilitación y conservación de aves, no solo en Estados Unidos y Argentina sino también en España, Escocia, Canadá, Bélgica, México, Colombia, Panamá, Costa Rica, Perú, Chile, Ecuador y Brasil. Ha contribuido a la formación de cientos de estudiantes de medicina veterinaria y a la dirección en investigación de numerosos estudiantes de pre y post grado. Actualmente coordina el proyecto Aves Rapaces de Santa Cruz, dedicado a ampliar el conocimiento existente sobre las aves rapaces de esta provincia Argentina.  https://www.westernu.edu/bios/?bio=msaggese
