The documentary follows a year in the life of some of the biologists and others dedicated to conserving the critically endangered California Condor, a magnificent bird of prey with a wingspan of nearly 10 feet. Proceeds will benefit The Peregrine Fund, which houses the world’s largest captive condor flock at the World Center for Birds of Prey and manages the wild flock in the canyonlands of Arizona and Utah.
The film will be followed by a question-and-answer session featuring:
- Jeff McLoughlin, California filmmaker
- Joseph Brandt, condor recovery biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
- J. Peter Jenny, president of The Peregrine Fund
In 1982, condors numbered just 22 individuals. Today, there are more than 400 condors, about half of them flying free in Arizona, Utah, California, and Baja Mexico. Each year, The Peregrine Fund produces 15-20 young birds for release to the wild.
