BOISE, Idaho – The Peregrine Fund is currently accepting applications for temporary summer jobs at Aplomado Falcon release sites in South Texas. Applications are due by March 30.
Two-person teams will work for 10-12 weeks as part of The Peregrine Fund’s unique effort to restore endangered Aplomado Falcons to their native habitat. Attendants will be responsible for feeding and monitoring up to 14 young birds from the time they are placed at the release site until they reach independence.
Releases from six or seven sites will begin in June and July, depending on when the young falcons hatch at the captive-breeding facility at the World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise, Idaho. Work at some sites will continue into September.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Ornithological or other wildlife experience is desirable but not required. Job-seekers must be in good physical condition and capable of working outdoors in a hot environment. Field housing and equipment will be provided.
