Jared Scholten | Omaha, Nebraska

Hello, my name is Jared Scholten and I grew up in southern Idaho where my love for the outdoors grew through various activities like skiing, golfing, biking, and hiking. After college I moved to Omaha, Nebraska where I started working for Mutual of Omaha. There I have witnessed the wild kingdom through many different opportunities at the local zoo and wildlife safari park.

My running story is both similar to many and different at the same time. What started as a way to see things during the pandemic, by running on a treadmill watching videos of foreign places where others had run before, turned quickly into something that I felt a need to do every day. I ran almost exclusively on the treadmill for the first year until I decided to try running outside to have a change of pace. The next thing I knew I signed up for my first half marathon in Spring of 2021, then did another one in the summer of 2021 before trying my first full marathon last fall. At this point the bug had bit me, and I completed another full marathon earlier this year. Not mentioned are the many different 5k, 10k and 10 mile races that I ran between.

Now I have an amazing chance to give back to one of my favorite charities The Peregrine Fund and all of their wonderful work in helping birds of prey throughout the world. By running for raptors at the TCS New York Marathon, my hope is to bring more attention to the great work they do every day and how they are making a difference in the world. Please help me raise money for this very important cause!

Help Jared reach his fundraising goal!
