Running a Long Way to Conserve Birds of Prey

What if someone’s next long run could help protect birds of prey around the world?

We’re excited to introduce Running for Raptors, a new way for dedicated conservationists to take on the challenge of running a marathon—and turn every mile into meaningful impact. The program builds on the strong foundation of our six-year partnership with the TCS New York City Marathon as a charity partner. Since 2021, our dedicated runners have helped raise awareness for raptor conservation while generating significant financial support for our work.

“I love having a race goal besides just a finishing time,” says Amanda Morgan, a member of our 2026 TCS NYC Marathon team. “Running for a cause adds a different kind of motivation and purpose to the miles. I have a two-year-old who is already developing a love for being outside, just like I have. I want him to grow up with a planet that still has its natural beauty and the wildlife that makes it special, and to be able to explore it decades from now.”

The 2026 TCS NYC Marathon team is currently filled. We’re accepting applications for the 2027 team—but you don’t have to wait until then to run for raptors!

“In 2026, big things are coming: we’re adding new races in new communities!” reports our Membership Manager, Eddie Wallace. “Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or someone who’s been looking for the right motivation to commit to a big goal, we invite you to run with purpose—and bring others along with you!”

Our next opportunity is the JAL Honolulu Marathon on December 13, 2026. As part of our team, participants receive guaranteed race entry and the chance to fundraise for conservation work they care deeply about. “Even more important, each runner becomes an ambassador, sharing why raptor conservation matters and inspiring friends, family, and colleagues to support the cause,” says Eddie.

For the 2026 TCS NYC Marathon team member Teresa Cuevas, both of these sources of potential impact are what drew her to our team. “As I set forth on this journey, I am really hoping to not only make a positive impact on vulnerable habitats and species, but I also hope that I can inspire others to take notice and appreciate the natural world as much as I do,” she says. “I truly feel honored to run this year’s marathon as an advocate for The Peregrine Fund.”

“Even if running isn’t your thing, you can still help by sharing this opportunity with someone in your life who loves a challenge and cares about conservation,” Eddie adds. “One runner can spark dozens of new supporters!”
