The Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey has received a Nickelodeon's Parents' Picks Award for the best tourist spot in Boise.
The World Center for Birds of Prey was selected as the one place that every out-of-towner must see. Parents voted between May and July on the Parents Connect website (www.parentsconnect.com) for their favorite family-friendly destinations and businesses.
Other nominees in the best-tourist-spot category included the MK Nature Center, Boise Art Museum, Idaho State Historical Museum, Idaho Botanical Garden, Warhawk Air Museum, and Old Idaho Penitentiary.
The World Center for Birds of Prey features the Velma Morrison Interpretive Center, where adults and kids enjoy interactive displays and face-to-face encounters with live raptors. Visitors also can tour the Archives of Falconry, with an authentic Arab hunting tent, artifacts, books, art and sculpture.
The World Center for Birds of Prey previously was named Nickelodeon's Best Enviro-friendly Place in Boise for 2008.
"We are honored and thrilled to again receive an award from Parents Connect," said Jack Cafferty, interpretive center director. "We will continue striving to be a top-notch destination for local residents and visitors alike."
