BOISE, Idaho – Nature photographer Daniel Bergmann will display stunning images of Gyrfalcons in Iceland’s ruggedly beautiful landscape in conjunction with a talk on climate change on Monday, January 31, at Boise State University.

The photos will be featured from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the entrance to the Simplot Ballroom at the Student Union Building. The presentation by renowned polar bear expert Dr. Steven C. Amstrup begins at 7 p.m. in the ballroom.

The talk and photo exhibit kick off a three-day international conference sponsored by The Peregrine Fund, Boise State University, and the U.S. Geological Survey. “Gyrfalcons and Ptarmigan in a Changing World.” It will bring together biologists, conservationists, and climate experts to explore how Gyrfalcons and other signature species in the Arctic are affected by climate change and what steps might be taken to confront the effects on wildlife.

Bergmann has been photographing Iceland’s landscapes and wild creatures, including Gyrfalcon and Ptarmigan, for more than a decade. He is the editor of a local bird magazine published by BirdLife Iceland and author of three books on Icelandic nature. His international magazine credits include BBC Wildlife, National Geographic Traveler, CNN Traveller, TIME For Kids and RSPB’s Birds. He is working currently on a book about the Gyrfalcon in Iceland.
