Aimee Kessler
Aimee Kessler is from Dundas, Ontario, Canada. Born and raised in New Jersey, Aimee is a marketer by profession, and an artist and performer at heart. A self-proclaimed "theatre kid" who never did anything athletic until after her kids were born, Aimee has wanted to run this marathon since she began running at the age of 35. (For years, she worked at a tech industry trade show at the Hilton in midtown Manhattan. Every year when she'd set up her company's booth, she'd see runners in the elevator with their medals and mylar blankets and think, "I'd like to do that someday!")
After a decade of trying to get into the TCS New York City Marathon, here she is.
Birding became a passion around the same time as running and cycling did. Her new home in southern Ontario gives her access to conservation parks and trails, where she's discovered that she is absolutely delighted by birds. While she has many favourites, near and dear to her heart are the bald eagles that nest in the nearby Royal Botanical Gardens, and the Peregrine Falcons that are thriving in the city of Hamilton. She's proud to support efforts to protect these and all other birds, and to not just protect, but expand access to green spaces in the US and Canada.
