TPF California Condor: Thirty Years in the Making
On December 12, 1996, six California Condors were released at Vermilion Cliffs, Arizona, establishing what would become the Arizona–Utah population and beginning a chapter that has not stopped since. This year, we mark 30 years of that commitment. Since that first release, The Peregrine Fund has released over 250 condors into the wild. Today, nearly 100 fly free across Arizona and Utah, each one a testament to what sustained science, dedicated fieldwork, and an unbroken relay of crew members across generations can achieve. Recovery is real—and it is within reach.
