Birds are wonderful. Running is wonderful. Running for birds? Wonderful! I love getting feathered friends on my life list and now it’s time to get a marathon off the bucket list. I am feeding two birds with one seed by running the 2026 JAL Honolulu Marathon with The Peregrine Fund’s charity team.

I live in Snohomish, WA and started birding two years ago. I love all birds but raptors have a special place in my heart. A small falcon called a Merlin was my spark bird (a specific bird that gets you hooked on the hobby) after I got to watch a family teach their young fledgling how to hunt and bother the local Steller’s Jays. I am excited to be fundraising and running to support all birds of prey, but especially that little Merlin.

Running is a relatively new hobby, only having previously completed turkey trots and fun runs from time to time. I am looking forward to increasing my distance, meeting new friends, and of course seeing amazing birds out in nature during training and the event (Red-crested Cardinal is the race day chase).

Thank you for supporting my running goals and for supporting The Peregrine Fund. I highly encourage my supporters to also learn more about the organization. My personal favorite is their Aplomado Falcon nesting structure conservation program.
