In the Flight Lab today!

Farah the Ferruginous Hawk

Farah hatched in 2015 and began impressing audiences at the World of Flight shows at the Hogle Zoo in Utah. She joined the team at the World Center for Birds of Prey in 2021 and made her first appearance in our Fall Flights in 2022. Ferruginous Hawks are known for hunting and nesting on the ground as well as using man made nest structures. You’ll see that Farah is comfortable near guests on the fence as well as up high on her perch modeled after nesting platforms. Similar nesting platforms are used to promote greater reproductive success in the wild, including in the nearby Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area.
